SIZILIA or SICILIA?
It all began in Germany: the spark of an idea, the inventions and development of the bottling systems, supplying customers, and more. Even the brand name was coined by Gustav Paul Hildebrandt in his home country of Germany—following the German-language spelling of the Italian Mediterranean island SIZILIA, with a “Z.”
With the establishment of an autonomous company location in Messina—a small port city in Sicily, where our citrus fruits also ripen—a strategic statement was made about the company’s international orientation. That’s why the brand is marketed internationally as SICILIA, with a “C.”
For a long time, both spellings of the brand could be found on the shelves of many globally operating retail companies. Since 2019, however, the brand has been presented worldwide under one unified name: SICILIA.
